    Byimana Community, Ruhango District

BAHO Family Organisation, working with Local Government Authorities, provided training on child rights and protection to single mothers in Byimana community. The training forms part of BAHO Family's broader effort to establish family and community norms that reject abuse and violence, particularly toward children, women and other vulnerable persons.

For children's rights to be upheld, children, parents and communities alike must understand both the rights children hold and the responsibilities parents and communities carry in supporting those rights. Participants explored practical ways to recognise and respond to violations, and how to access local child-protection services.

BAHO Family is now working to establish children's and adolescents' clubs led by trained community caregivers, who will educate children on their rights, how to claim them, and provide a safe space to share their experiences.
